Top Tips:
Biggest Tip: See the REAL Peru. There is so much to do in Peru, do everything! Do not skip anything, you will not be disappointed.

Transportation: Some people travel in Peru, skipping certain areas and taking a flight to Cusco instead of traveling by vehicle. Traveling by bus was the best decision we ever made! You see areas/parts of Peru you would otherwise miss! It is also cheaper to bus trip through Peru, we travelled for 11 days across the entire country for $200! If we had more time, we would have crossed over into Bolivia as well.

Seasons/Temperature: We went to Peru in August. August is WINTER in Peru. However, we packed for winter, summer, and mountainous weather. Basically, pack for all seasons. The desert and mountains are hot during the day and cold at night.

Accommodation: There weren't any heaters in the lodging. Since it is mostly hot. However, temperatures drop at night and the country rely on warm clothes and blankets and not heat like the U.S.

Last tip: This trip was physically taxing, please be aware it might be a challenge.
There is a risk of altitude sickness: try altitude sickness pills or chewing coca leaves. Might want to bring Trekking shoes. Do not skip out on Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain! We did it on back to back days just to make sure we were able to.
